My name is Christine, lifelong friend of Sheena and Jared, and I am assisting in raising funds for their daughter Mariah. If you would rather make a direct donation vs through this platform please contact me and I can accept various forms of payments to forward to them directly. With three siblings also in the home, donations will go towards key items such as loss of income, hospital-related costs, ongoing and future travel for treatment, and household related needs. Thank you for your generosity.
Directly from Sheena:
Last weekend, Mariah began complaining of some back pain and the usual Tylenol/Ibuprofen regimen just wasn't helping in the least. On New Years eve we took her to her pediatrician, who after a brief evaluation and some concern, referred us to Boston Childrens Hospital for some further testing. Within mere hours of arriving at Boston Childrens Hospital, we received some devastating news....Mariah was diagnosed with Hyperdiploid B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL).
While this news literally hit us like a ton of bricks, we are incredibly blessed to have the world's most advanced technology and medicine right here in our backyard, available to us at Boston Childrens...and an amazing team of doctors who will be in charge of Mariah's treatment during our time here and throughout this journey we have been set out on.
As devastated as we are, we are confident in the care she will receive here and throughout this journey. Her prognosis is extremely promising and we are just taking things one day at a time as we navigate this new "normal" for our family.
I want to thank everyone who has helped us get through the last few days; from helping us navigate schedules with our other kids, to offering prayers and comfort when we have really needed it the most. I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring, but I'll try my best to keep everyone updated as Mariah's fight continues.
Please keep us in your prayers as we have quite a long road ahead of us, but we will continue to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel since we have such strong faith that God will help guide us through all this. Anyone who knows Mariah knows how strong she is, so we know she's gonna kick Leukemia's ass and hand it to her on a platter by the time this is over ❤️
