I’m in the Indiana National Guard and have been deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherant Resolve. My mobilization was not voluntary but rather a mandatory requirement that I’m fulfilling as part of my military obligation to the US Government. This obligation requires me to take a leave of absence from my civilian occupation through February of 2019. Unfortunately military pay, for my rank of E5, places me in a position of significant financial loss. The reason for the loss is due to a 25% reduction in net income over the next seven months. The 25% loss represents the difference in what the military pays an E5, verses what I make in the private sector. I’ve successfully negotiated some reprieve from my mortgage lender which has helped some. Unfortunately my family is still experiencing a financial hardship and therefore I’m requesting $2,000 to cover the cost of various expenses between now and February, 2019. Any assistance provided would be sincerely appreciated.
