Delbert's Mobile Museum Trip to Africa
THE RETURN
In March 2020, my American History Traveling Museum: The Unspoken Truths will showcase in two countries in Africa – Benin and Burkina Faso. The mission of the trip: to re-educate Africans on the critical role people of African descent have played in American history and throughout the African Diaspora. 2019 marks the 400-year anniversary of the first Africans who were brought to the British colony of Virginia. I am bringing a videographer along to capture this historic event as Africans on the continent interact with 400 years of African-American history.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 31, 2019. We've raised about $2,000 so far on Facebook. The trip will consist of one assistant, a videographer, and myself.
As some of you know, the mobile museum is an interdisciplinary educational experience. With the use of authentic artifacts, storyboards, and the ancient art of storytelling, this multi-sensory “hands on” exhibit creates an opportunity for participants to learn the missing pieces of American History. The traveling museum has won acclaim in recent years, including the 2017 National Education Association's Carter G. Woodson Memorial Award; the 2019 Seattle Office of Arts and Culture's Mayor’s Arts Award; as well as Crosscut's 2019 Courage in Culture Award. I sincerely appreciate your support,
