Rebuilding My Home
Donation protected
My name is Ramona Ball, and on March 16th at 3am, my house caught fire. My home is my most valuable possession because it was my mothers, who was the daughter of a share cropper: and she, as a single mother, had it built from the ground up.
We have owned this home since 1958. That’s 65 years. 65 years of:
⁃ Neighborhood camaraderie
⁃ Growing
⁃ Memories
⁃ Seeing change
⁃ Family experiences
⁃ Raising children (and grandchildren)
It’s gone.
Known as a person who is always involved in her community, and associating with many individuals in the Midland community, I have founded, organized, and participated in various community-based organizations and projects, including** but not limited to**
*Starting a domestic violence awareness event
*Organizing and starting south east Neighborhood Watch
*Organizing and heavily participating in National Night out Gatherings
*Sitting on the finance committee of the Permian Basin Area Foundation
*Participating in the Get out the vote (GOTV) community committee
*Hosting annual Community Mother’s Day Celebrations for 10+ years
*Holding a place on various MISD committees
*Actively participating in my church and other local churches
I have been able to contribute to all of these organizations in the Midland community because of where I grew up, the area I witnessed change needing to happen, and having a safe place to brainstorm and call my own - my home.
Any contributions made to help me rebuild my most valuable possession, inherited from my mother, will be a blessing to help me continue to bless others.
