Dara & Nathan European Championships

It's been a long journey! Dara and Nathan started out nearly 10 years ago learning the basics of kickboxing in a small village hall in small West Cork. They were fortunate enough to learn from coaches who had competed on the highest level with Tony Stephenson and Ian Kingston. Through hard work, determination and huge commitment these lads have now earned their right to represent their country at the upcoming European championships in September. At only 14 and 15 they are training hard 6 days a week to make sure that they do their club and country proud. They have now earned the right to compete on the continental stage just like those who have taught them their skills.

As with any amateur sport the burden of cost is significant. Without any funding from the official sporting bodies the onus is solely on the parents to ensure that they can make the most of the opportunities they've earned. Training fees, travel & accommodation costs, competition entry fees, insurance, uniforms, protective gear, physio costs etc. Sending a junior athlete to the European championships can cost in excess of E2,000 per competitor. But this is often a once in a lifetime chance.

Many who are seeing this link have helped us out in the past and you have no idea how much of a positive impact your support had had. Nathan in particular, has grown hugely as a a young man as a result of his experience in the world championships. This year Dara joins Nathan on the international stage and it is a huge honour for both to represent their country at the very highest level.
