Help us Save Dango

Donation protected
A little over a year ago we made possibly the best decision ever: we adopted a kitten. It almost seemed like fate; he was most definitely not the one we had requested to have a meet-and-greet with, but he was the one the volunteer brought out and the one we fell in love with. Dango has always been a special cat, full of love and kisses since the moment we brought him home. Even when he went blind at a young age, he showed his incredible tenacity and bravery by maintaining his zest for life and love of adventure. He has truly changed us and brought so much light into our lives and the lives of everyone he meets.

This past Thursday we brought Dango to the emergency vet for lethargy and inappetence of unknown cause. He seemed to be improving over the weekend, but on Sunday he had three seizures, and we suspect he may have had more that we did not catch. He has been an overnight inpatient at Campus Estates animal hospital for two nights, and he is being transferred to OVC neurology as his seizures may be linked to a brain condition that also caused his blindness. He is only 1.5 years old, and his symptoms are not aligning with any clear diagnosis, so we are left trying to keep him alive until we can find something to treat.

The bills for his treatment to keep him stable and for the specialist neurology testing (MRI, CT scan, spinal tap, etc.) to find out the underlying cause of his seizures are quickly adding up. We would deeply appreciate any assistance that you can give to help us keep this special cat in our life.

I can't stress enough how gentle, loving, and caring this incredible cat is, even in the face of all of the challenges life has brought him so far. When we visited him at the veterinary hospital, even while he was sedated and scared, he tried his best to lick our fingers as we pet him, just like he did the first night we brought him home last year. He has also brought so much love to our older cat Wasabi, who has been dearly missing him while he is hospitalized.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide, whether by donating or sharing this page. We are forever grateful, as we just want to see Dango back to his playful, confident and adorable self again.

For those interested in the financials of the situation, his initial visit to Campus Estate Veterinary Clinic was approximately $2,500 for two overnight stays, fluids, anti-inflammatory, anti-seizure medication, and bloodwork. The preliminary estimate at OVC, which includes most of the previous fees, is $5,000 to $7,000. In addition, his OVC stay will include an MRI, spinal tap, ICU care, and anesthesia, not to mention other fees that will crop up once we get results.
