Damian’s Ewings sarcoma cancer leg amputee journey
Donation protected
Damian is a 6 year old Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer Amputee. He underwent 13 rounds of Chemotherapyit was supposed to be 14 but he kept getting pseudonymous infection and 5 rounds of radiotherapy, finally being declared cancer free on 9th October 2023
Damian now attends quarterly scans and x rays to monitor his status to see if he is still cancer free as Ewings sarcoma is likely to come back
Sadly, in the battle against Ewing's Sarcoma, Damian had to have a through the knee amputation of his right leg on the 24th of march 2023 and a second operation afew weeks later as the skin on his amputation didnt heal and was very tight
It was An awkward amputation that has saved his growth plate but makes fitting a prosthetic limb extremely challenging, and as such, Damian is likely to be unsuitable for his prosthetic for some considerable time as he is not ready to have a prosthetic leg and could have lead to another operation
As you can imagine, for a lively 6 year old, this markedly hampers his mobility.
Damian tires easily when hand wheeling his wheel chair and is virtually unable to play with his friends. It is heavy and cumbersome and Damian cannot keep up with his able bodied friends.
We have investigated Electric Wheelchairs with a view to improving Damians mobility, and have been advised by specialists that the electric chair most fitting Damians needs is priced at £4,500. Adding the sum lost to fees we need to raise a total of £ 4500 to get Damian out and about to enjoy life with less struggle.
Your donation will make all the difference to Damian’s life
