For the love of Cydney
Donation protected
I write this plea with a heavy heart. Our precious Cydney Armani is dying from Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative (PTLD) cancer and given around three months to live. We are fundraising for wages to help her parents stay by her side during her last days.
Cydney was born on April 12, 2002, to Carlos Sr. and Karla. They were elated to have a healthy baby girl and we were over the moon to celebrate our growing family. Sadly, the celebration was short-lived when she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy at 2 months old. We were devasted! For our child to survive, another family would lose theirs. Four months later, Cydney received her new heart on October 17, 2002, when she was six months old. Unfortunately, the extended time on the ventilator left Cydney developmentally challenged and on the autism spectrum. Despite all of this, Cydney flourished into an amazing young woman who loves her tablets and root beer! We rejoiced believing the worst was behind her.
Sadly, in July of 2008, Cydney went into rejection. Her heart and kidneys became weak, no longer functioning at 100% but she pulled through. Then in December 2019, she was diagnosed with the BK virus. This virus attacks the kidneys and is inoperable. Cydney was placed in palliative care that same year.
In December 2022, Cydney complained of pain in her stomach and had begun to lose a lot of weight. After visits to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital, Cydney was diagnosed with PTLD Cancer. PTLD Cancer is a terminal condition in which a group of B-cells grows out of control after an organ transplant in patients with weakened immune systems.
Cydney is currently in hospice and is not expected to survive until her 21st birthday. Our family is truly heartbroken for everything that this poor child has been through.
While caring for Cydney, her parents have exhausted all paid benefits from their employers and need financial help to stay with Cydney during her last days. We are asking for your support to make this happen. Whatever you can spare big or small, will make a huge difference and allow her parents to continue caring for her as long as they can.
Prayers, donations, positive comments, and a share on social media are greatly appreciated.
