More information about Greater Chicago Food Depository: The Greater Chicago Food Depository is Chicago's food bank. They provide food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. As COVID-19 has struck, the depository is struggling to maintain the necessary food for the untold amount of children that depend on school for a source of nutrition. Before the virus, the depository was able to distribute more than 170,000 meals a day, now that Illinois has a stay at home order, the depository has had a 40% increase in demand, and a 30% decrease in grocery store donations from the same time last year.
