Cultural Immersion in Egypt

We're the Sahlala Dancers, one of the original international dance companies in California. Our mission is to uphold the legacies of cultural dance and use our innovative creativity to carry these traditions into the future. We aim to set a standard of excellence through training, research and collaboration to create authentic productions that inspire and entertain.

We are traveling to Egypt this year to study with master instructors, deepen our research of Raqs Sharqi history, and share our experience with our audiences, students and fans.

Your support will help us achieve our goal of elevating the artform of Raqs Sharqi. Funds will go directly to the dancer's travel expenses, such as flights, accommodations, food and transportation within the country. The money raised will also go to the Egyptian artists and communities that provide this training: teachers, tour guides, lecturers, museums, and performers of shows we attend.
