Save Craig's Place Homeless Shelter

Donation protected

Due to a state budget deficit, funding for Homeless Individuals Assistance was put on hold, including $200,000 designated for Craig's Place.

Craig's Place has been staying open through the generous donations of community members.

Thanks to the efforts of legislatures and community members, Craig's Doors WILL be funded this year!

But we still need your help!

The turn around time for state earmarks is one to two months.  Because of this, Craig's Doors is continuing to operate at minimal capacity to hang on.  We still need support from the community as we wait for the state funding.

                        Your donation is not wasted!

Your donations have and will save lives this winter!
With our shelter funding restored,
your donation will also:

-Give guests hope during the dark New England Winter
-Provide case management services to shelter guests
-Help individuals move into permanent housing
-Support the long term stability of the Shelter services

Every day the shelter stays open is another day our guests are kept alive. The absence of funding, and the subsequent closing of Craig’s Place, would mean death for many of those who call it home.

Since 2011, Craig’s Place has been committed to providing safe and respectful shelter for those without homes. Craig's Place is the emergency shelter run by our organization, Craig's Doors.

Craig’s Place has the unique position of being the only behavior-based shelter in our county, and one of only two in western Massachusetts. All those who honor the security and wellbeing of our guests, volunteers, staff, and facility are welcome. Our existence allows for some of the most vulnerable members of our community—those with ongoing substance use issues, mental health issues, and physical disabilities—to exercise basic human rights to shelter, safety, and respect. This means that even if an individual is under the influence, as long as they abide by shelter rules, they have a place to stay for the night. Many of the people who call the shelter home are indidivuals who are most likely to die if they are left outside in the cold.

Please, help us keep our doors open! Help us in our mission to support those who are at their most vulnerable. We are doing everything we can as an organization to keep our shelter running--but we can not do it alone. Your contribution to Craig's Place directly translates into another day of operation, another day of saving lives.

Each day is significant.
