COVID-19 Affected Families Emergency Funds

This is an emergency fund for low-income students and families at
Flushing International High School affected by the COVID-19
pandemic. 



Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Flushing International High School community has been devastatingly affected. As a Title I school with a student body made up entirely of new immigrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, our students and their families are some of the most vulnerable. The majority of our students' and their families live at or below the poverty line and work in job that are precarious at best. With the spread of COVID-19 we have already seen unprecedented job loss, economic strains, and an increase in housing and food insecurity among our students and families. 

We, the teachers and the staff of the school, are asking for help to support our students and families as they face this crisis.



To help our students and their families we are currently asking for funds to provide emergency financial help to those in need. and will be posting digitized money transfers from all donations collected. We know that there will be long term financial implications that will hit out community and we want to ensure that our students, the future, will be able to know that they have our support during this challenging and stressful time. 


Flushing International High School serves a population of new
immigrant English Language Learners from over 40 different countries. Students come to our school to learn, to form community and learn skills to prepare them for life after high school and to live in a new
country. The students of Flushing International are astounding in their determination, motivation, perseverance, and creativity and their every day dedication to learning. Our students are the faces of resilience and perseverance and are inspirations to us each and every day.
