Cory Fox’s Heart Transplant
Donation protected
A few years ago, I was involved in a horrible accident. I was hit from behind by a motorcycle that caused serious injuries. I needed multiple procedures; a craniectomy, a defibrillator, I was in a coma and also sustained a traumatic brain injury. It’s been a long road and I was doing good for a while. After some therapy, I was able to return to work for a short period of time.
One day, I started feeling a little weak while I was at work. I left and went to the hospital where they examined me and then told me I was in heart failure. I couldn’t believe that my ejection fracture was at 5%. How could this be? I was taking my meds. I had been through so many tests. And just to learn that the impact from that accident had caused so much damage to my heart; this all got serious.
Here I am years later fighting for another chance at life. I now need a heart transplant. For now, I hope to get a mechanical heart as a bridge to an organ once one becomes available.
For many, this is something that I have kept private. Because I really don’t want anyone worried or concerned about me and my situation. But the time is now.
This is not the end of my road. I need everyone’s prayers and blessings. Hopefully, I get a new heart and I’ll be back up and running again. Back in the gym going hard. Thank you to everyone that has been with me through all of this.
