Connor's Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Connor and I am raising funds to support my Eagle Scout project beneficiary, the Thurman Brisben Center in Fredericksburg, VA.
For my Eagle Scout project, I will build a 25'x30' raised herb and vegetable garden that will grow ingredients for use in the kitchen, as well as plant a 2'x40' sunflower bed along the fence. The garden beds will be maintained by the shelter inhabitants as part of the work they are required to perform.
The funds raised will be used to purchase wood, fasteners, soil, plants and seeds, and other items needed for the garden beds; any excess funds will be donated to the Thurman Brisben Center to support their operations.
The Thurman Bisben Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on aiding the homeless by providing them access to an enclosed and secure facility that provides lodging, food (following the current USDA model for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), employment coaching, financial training, treatment for physical and mental conditions, accountability-based case management for getting people out of homelessness, tutoring, veteran care, substance abuse counseling, and so much more, including more than twelve months additional assistance after leaving the facility. The Brisben Center operates completely off of donations, which is why my project has been favorably received.
