Community Aid For Steve's Emergency Vet Bills

Hey gang, last Monday (July 14th) Steve was admitted to the VCA here in Los Angeles after showing signs of extreme vomiting, weakness, limping & dehydration. After initial scans I was told on the evening of July 14th that he would either need a $12,000+ surgery to remove a blockage in his intestines or that he would need to be put down. This was a terrifying diagnoses to hear after spending eight wonderful years together and him being a relatively healthy dog. Before we moved to LA in May a vet back in NC said he acted like a 2-3 year old dog, not 8. Thankfully the blockage in his stomach moved, but he required two more days at the VCA for intense monitoring and testing to ensure the object inside him didn't cause any other damage. He was released to me the evening of July 16th to the tune of $6,500 in emergency vet bills + more in follow up appointments.

I got laid off in May from my full-time job and have had trouble finding work, cobbling together freelance work and shows to get by. I hate asking for help, but after a large outpouring on social media about Steve's health, you made it very clear that you were willing to help us financially if we needed it. So, I am firing up the bat signal as this bill will eat into a significant portion of my savings that I need to get by while I continue to look for more work out here in LA and continue to care for Steve as he recovers.

Steve has about another $800+ of vet bills to come as he will require another round of x-rays and medicine next week to ensure everything has healed properly.
