Collecting Funds for a Poem Book by oodaru

The book "The Unwritten Poem - Verses of Tamil Women Freedom Fighters" is an expression of loss, survival and resistance of Tamil female freedom fighters during the Sri Lankan war.

After having published "பெயரிடாத நட்சத்திரங்கள்" in 2011, a book containing poems and thoughts of Tamil female freedom fighters in the original language, we are aiming to publish it now in English. Since it is a non-profit project by oodaru, we are collecting the last funds to publish the book "The Unwritten Poem - Verses of Tamil Women Freedom Fighters". With the translation of the poem book, we are trying to bring awareness of the struggle surpassing the Tamil language. The project is now in its final phase and will soon be ready to go into print.

The funds we are collecting here are needed for the printing costs. We will transfer the money to the book printers as soon as we reach our goal.

oodaru was founded in 2005 by our mother, Ranjani Pathmanathan, and is a self-organised and non-profit feminist interface based in Switzerland. It features articles, essays, poems and short stories by Tamil women and sheds light on topics like casteism, gender oppression, domestic and sexual violence, exploitation of labour and the roles of the woman in the Sri Lankan war.
