Colin The Cat

5 weeks ago my cat Colin, who is 12 years old, started vomiting and couldn’t keep food down. A visit to the vet confirmed he had Triaditis (inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis and inflammation of the bile duct). He was hospitalised at Park Vets Hospital and underwent x-rays and ultrasounds which also discovered a mass in his intestine. A visit to the vet this week shows that he has lost a further 425 grams (which for a cat who only weighed 4.2kg this is a lot to lose within a short amount of time) and the vet believes that they are dealing with small cell lymphoma and are very concerned about him. To confirm this, he would need to have a surgical procedure to obtain biopsies however we have decided not to go down this route as it is a huge operation for an older cat. Our next steps are to have regular blood tests and start him on a course of chemotherapy and steroids and a protein diet. As you can imagine, the cost is huge.
His pet insurance covers vet fees up to £4000 a year, which was only renewed in February, and the vet bill has exceeded this amount. I have only received 80% back due to his age. His regular blood tests alone are in excess of £200 a time and we need to begin paying for his monthly treatment.
Anyone that knows us knows how much Colin means to us and it is upsetting seeing him so poorly. I have grown up with Colin since I was 7 and this last month has been deeply distressing seeing him lose so much weight and not be the lovely playful cat that I know.
Any help towards his ongoing bills would be greatly appreciated and would mean a lot to me and my family ❤️❤️
