Clean water to masai village Tanzania
Donation protected
When we take a shower, make laundry or pour water into a cup from the tap, we usually don't think about the fact that there are still places where we need to bring water home.
Two years ago I first visited a Masai village in the center of the Tanzanian bush and have followed them closely ever since. Here, women still go and take water home. Every day they cover many kilometers on foot to bring water for drinking, cooking, washing dishes, washing clothes and drinking water for children, adults and small pets. It is hard everyday work and requires a lot of energy.
This water varies widely in quality, especially when taken from surface sources that dry up in the dry season and are also used by animals.
I have a dream to help this Masai village and the surrounding area with accessible clean drinking water as no one should lack fresh clean water in the world. For this I need your help.
The price of a water well in Tanzania varies a lot, but we expect the price to be at least DKK 55.000 (7500 euro/8000 usd) + solar cells
This includes approximately 400,000 Tanzanian shillings for the on-site hydrological survey, 1.5 million shillings for the pump and equipment needed to bring the water to the surface and 130,000-150,000 shillings for each meter drilled (we expect the water to be no lower than 50 meters deep - but it is not known at what depth the water deposits are found. There is also no guarantee that it will be fresh water. If you dig for a salt water source, you must also build a treatment plant.) We expect the total amount to include most of the costs of equipment and servicing the equipment and catering for the team at the workplace.
If there are funds left after building a water well, we will support the school in a nearby area where construction is ongoing, but on pause due to finances.
Thank you very much for your understanding, for your kind words, for sharing the fundraising and for making a donation ☺️
