Chloe's COVID Shred Shed Startup
Donation protected
My name is Chloe Bertrand, and I hope you can take a moment to read my story and support my Shred Shed (#ccshredshed) project!
I am a fiercely determined young adult who experiences Autism. While the challenges I experience are significant, I have achieved some monumental things with the right support and encouragement. I like to be productive and have been working part-time at Whole Foods in Nashua since the summer of 2017, but given my underlying medical conditions, I have had to take a leave from work due to COVID-19.
While I plan on returning to my part-time job in the community as soon as it is safe for me, I need a dedicated home-based space/workshop where I can continue to work on vocational skills and do some remote work like shredding, folding pamphlets, and other administrative tasks with the eventual goal of launching a small shredding business in the future. Shredding paper is one of my most favorite things to do!
Reeds Ferry Sheds is generously donating a new shed I can use as my dedicated Shred Shed (#ccshredshed) workspace! My parents have owned a Reeds Ferry shed for over 10 years now and it looks just like it did when it was first installed. Thank you Reeds Ferry Sheds for helping me complete this project!
My goal with this fundraiser is to raise $6,700 so that I can finish the interior of the shed and equip it with electricity and HVAC. I have saved $1,500 of my own funds to contribute to my Shred Shed project, and my parents will provide some help to finish and furnish the interior and set up work stations for me to develop more job skills and do some remote work.
Ciardelli Fuel Co. of Milford, NH has graciously donated their installation services to install a hyper heat mini-split system in the shed so it will have year-round heat and cooling! Thank you Ciardelli!
I am looking for licensed electrician who would be willing to donate some of their time to do the electrical wiring and installation so I have a source of heat and can use my Shred Shed year-round. Please message me if you are a licensed professional who is interested/able to help/volunteer your services.
I really need a work space of my own. This project is so important to me because I enjoy working and would take pride in maintaining my Shred Shed. Being productive and earning my own money to help pay for the things I need as an adult will help me live a meaningful and independent life. My Shred Shed will also allow me to work safely now during the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually help me achieve my future career goal of owning my own small business.
My estimated budget for completing the shed is:
Electrical Exterior Front Light $100
Outdoor Security Light $70
Outdoor outlets $300
Indoor outlets $500
Trench/Wiring $600
Elec Panel Upgrade $300
Subtotal $1,870
