Children Can't Fight Cancer Alone

July 16, 2018, 4-year-old Calliah Pierre was having horrible stomach pains. She was taken to her pediatrician who discovered a mass on her left side ,near her kidney. Her pediatrician advised that she be taken immediately to the pediatric emergency room. There, through a series of medical examinations, they received the worst possible news----Calliah has cancer.
Calliah has Neuroblastoma, a rare cancer that is commonly found in the adrenal glands. This tumor mainly affects children from the age 0-5. They may also spread to other areas of the body, including bone and bone marrow. The cause of Neuroblastoma is unknown. The first symptoms are often vague and may include fatigue and loss of appetite which is why it can be hard to diagnose.
Calliah’s parents journey with Neuroblastoma has just begun. The most important thing is not just the financial support but they hope that their daughters story sparks a larger conversation about childhood cancer, and eventually a cure. Thank you for your prayers and compassion for the Pierre family.
