On December 8th Sam had gone in to the hospital as he was experiencing excruciating back pain. They sent him home saying to alternate Tylenol and Advil and stated it should go away.
He went back on the 18th where they discovered he had a pretty bad infection which in turn had also made his sugars spike through the roof and he developed diabetic ketoacetosis.
They sent him to Kamloops for more extensive testing where they found that he has a staph infection, caused from multiple abscesses bursting. The infection has spread from his back into his hips and down his legs.
They are doing everything they can for him at the moment but he may require spinal surgery to get all of the infection out. He is also working with a physical therapist to get his strength back, as he cannot walk.
There is no eta as to when he will be realesed let alone when he may be able to return to work.
Ashley has had to go on leave from work to stay home and care for the kids. Once Sam is home he will require around the clock care. Both Sam and Ashley are going to be relying on Medical Ei. Unfortunately that won't be enough to help them get through these months as their bills will outweigh their income.
As you can imagine this is not the Christmas this family wanted or deserves.
I am asking if anyone can afford to donate as little as $5, to help this family get through these times with a little more ease, that they please do. Also please share this with your friends and family.
Anyone who knows this family, knows they would not ask unless they truly needed the support.
