On July 15th, the Chapman family faced a life-altering situation. When Donna called for an ambulance, she was worried that Kelly might be having a stroke. Sadly, the reality was even more devastating; Kelly was diagnosed with brain cancer. He was admitted to Foothills Medical Centre, where a series of tests revealed the heart-wrenching news: he has three aggressive tumors, two of which are inoperable. The family's hope is for Kelly to undergo surgery next week for the one operable tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation a few weeks later. However, they have been informed that, at best, this treatment could provide them with two more years together.
Kelly has always been an active member of the community. He was part of the First Airdrie Scouts for 15 years, leading the Cub program as Akela for 13 years. He lead an incredible team of leaders that provided exceptional life experiences and learning programs for the youth.
As many of you know, Donna has always been a pillar of support for those in need within our community, and now it is our turn to rally around her and her family. Their daughter, Kara, has temporarily stepped away from her job to care for Kelly during this challenging time as Donna has severe health issues of her own and Kelly has been the sole breadwinner for many years.
With medical and transportation costs they are facing, we are reaching out for your support. Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden so that the Chapman family can concentrate on what truly matters: cherishing every moment with Kelly. Your kindness and generosity can make a profound difference during this trying time. Thank you for standing by them.
