Chandlers Ford COVID-19 Community Response

COVID-19 is hitting communities everywhere in an unprecedented way and Chandlers Ford and the surrounding areas are no different. A small team of local residents have been relentlessly working to supply Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to local Key Workers using 3D Printing technology. To date, we have produced and delivered over 100 separate pieces of PPE to Doctors Surgeries, Care Homes and multiple carer workers. We need your support to help protect those people who are working tirelessly to care for others. Our PPE has been gratefully received and we continue to receive more orders however our materials are slowly running low and we need help to buy more supplies.
The PPE requires 3 major components to work.
1) 3D Filament. This is specifically manufactured plastic which feeds into our machines to create the headbands.
2) Rubber Bands. We use Rubber bands to hold the shields onto the wearer's faces.
3) Clear Sheets. Usually made from OHP Sheets or Documents covers, these physically block possible infectious material from landing on the wearers face.
As well as purchasing the materials we need to manufacture more PPE supplies, we would also like to purchase items to make care packages for those people working hard to look after us. Gift items would boost the spirits of the dedicated members of our community in a difficult and challenging time.
A typical care package will consist of soaps, creams, chocolates and depending on donations, gift vouchers. We aim to source many of these items from the local businesses to support the economy in the area. The initial target of £500 will allow us to produce and deliver at least another 100 face shields and 50-100 care packages. We are receiving orders nearly every day so may need to produce more than the initial target so anything you can give will be extremely helpful.
Any funds left after over after delivery of the face shields and care packages will be donated to Southampton General Hospital.
