Hi family and friends. As many of you may already know, our dad, Luis Baca, passed away on Saturday, August 24th at 6:25 pm.
We learned on May 7th that he was very sick and in liver failure. We were also told by doctors that his prognosis was good and that he could live years with this illness with proper management of his diet, appointments and treatments. Over the next few weeks, we helped him with all of these things, took him to all his appointments and made sure he had the support he needed, but his health seemed to be declining. Then on June 18th, we had to call 911 to rush him to the hospital as he had become unresponsive and stopped breathing. He almost died on us, but it wasn't his time yet. He was now also in end stage renal failure and needed to start receiving dialysis treatments. After two months of battling all of his ailments, the doctors determined that there was no option for a simultaneous liver kidney transplant and the treatments my dad needed were damaging his heart and his body couldn't handle them anymore. He wanted to go back home and just be in peace, he had said to us a few occasions, but we weren't ready to give up yet. It was extremely difficult coming to this decision, but on August 19th we honored his wishes and took our dad home on hospice care. We stayed by his side throughout this whole chapter, and the lord took him home Saturday evening. We are all so broken hearted because we just don't understand why this all happened so fast.
One amazing thing about our dad is that he always had the best sense of humor. He used to make us laugh all the time. He never once lost that. Even being in the hospital for so long, he would get very frustrated at times, but always kept his sense of humor.
And also, his passion for music! Music and laughter are the best medicines. We got some great taste of music from dad! And he would listen to our stuff too. We will be making a playlist, if you would like to add a special song, you can post it down below.
My dad will be cremated per his wishes, but we'd like to honor his life with a celebration. Please help with any donations towards his cremation services and to help the family put together a service in celebration of his life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
