Hi my name is Julie and I am fundraising for my dear friend Ivy Last. On March 1'st Ivy and another friend of mine traveled to The Dominican Republic for a much needed Holiday. On the way from the airport to their hotel the shuttle driver missed his exit and attempted to turn around at too fast of speed resulting in the shuttle rolling into a ditch.It was a horrendous crash! Two people died at the scene and a third passed a few days ago from his injuries. Ivy sustained a bad head injury with a brain bleed. She was unconscious for several days. After a week in the hospital she was released into her sons care to a local hotel. Ivy is not doing well and is struggling with balance and mobility issues. No wheelchair, no followup care and worst of all she is nowhere near ready to fly home. Air travel with a brain bleed can be very dangerous! We have no idea when she may be able to return home to Canada. Although her medical bills are covered there she will need help financially while her brain heals for monthly bills, food, etc.... These things take time and we don't know how long she will be out of work. She is a very sought after massage therapist in our community and this is a huge financial strain on her. She does not need that extra stress right now and needs to focus on recovery and getting home and healed. We don't know when that will be or what follow up care will look like. She will need to be under a neurologist care. Her son is over whelmed and understandably scared for his mother. If you could help with a donation of any amount it would be much appreciated! We want her home but most of all we want her healed and healthy. Medical care in The Dominican is subpar and just not that great. Please consider sending a few dollars to help my dear friend.
