Canterbury for Ukraine
We need your help! It is with the generosity and kindness of the Canterbury community that we can support those who suddenly find themselves away from their homes and loved ones.
Canterbury for Ukraine is a non-profit group which exists to provide support to Ukrainian persons displaced as a result of the Russian invasion. We work together with the Canterbury community including; KRAN, Christchurch University, Kent University, Canterbury City Council and BID.
Protect – supporting arrival and hosting
- Provide information regarding resources available to the displaced persons and hosting households in the City of Canterbury District and the related access procedures.
- Provide advice on the UK visa application process and how to get settled in the City of Canterbury District.
- Support educational and social needs of the Displaced Persons.
Progress – community development
- Supporting the community of the Displaced Persons, their hosts and any other community members involved with them.
- Provide urgent support when needed.
- Liaise with local, regional and national governments, businesses and charities in addressing the needs of Displaced Persons and local communities.
Preserve – preserve and share Ukrainian culture
- Preserve and develop Ukrainian culture, promoting opportunities for cultural exchange within the local community.
- Organise community, cultural, social and educational events and programs in the City of Canterbury District.
