Cancer, home repairs & 3 car breakdowns... oh my!
Donation protected
This is a bit of a story but please, bare with me...
In 2016 my lovely friend Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer. After six months of chemotherapy, plus a mastectomy and reconstruction things were going really well with her health. Four years in remission, and just as we were coming out of the big lockdown, she unfortunately was diagnosed again.
Strange thing is, it was not found in the remaining side but in the same breast she had a mastectomy and reconstruction on at the beginning of 2017!
Not only has she had to go through chemotherapy again (and this time radiation too), but she has also been struggling with her insurance about a badly cracked and leaking wall(to put it mildly) in her children's bedroom, that is in desperate need of repair. While all of this is going on, doctors appointments treatment days and assessors coming to her home, her car breaks down too!
After purchasing a used car with the last of her savings, and after a couple of months, it too breaks down... Not once, but now twice!! Which is what has prompted me to get this going for her.
I'm hoping to take some of the burden off her by raising some money to get her another car.
The house and the cancer treatment, I can't do much about, but a car I can definitely try to help her with.
As a single mum, working part time, it's been an extremely difficult time for her, but she has taken it in her stride. Joking and laughing about her situation, and generally being a strong and positive person, especially at a time that would have the potential to bring most people undone.
I'm hoping by doing this, it can give her a little bit of well deserved happiness during such a difficult time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
Even if you don't have the means to donate, I would be so grateful if you could please share this with your friends.
I know how much she would appreciate it.
