How are we holding up, you ask? Well, we are hangin’ in there, friends! If you’ve followed us much on social media during the pandemic, you know that this simple, and slightly sarcastic, phrase has been our motto throughout this ordeal and all the challenges it has presented. By staying positive, remaining hopeful, and leaning on laughter, we have tried hard to ride this unprecedented wave with grace, humility, and a smile. Since opening in 2015, this has and always will be a mission for CTA. This week, however, we can’t quite eke out a chuckle.
With a rather powerful punch to the face a few days ago, our glycol chiller had a catastrophic failure. The failsafe on the machine actually failed. Haha, right!?! (There's a chuckle for ya.) To put into perspective how random and rare this particular malfunction is, the chief engineer at G&D Chillers stated in disbelief that he has only seen this happen ONE other time in SEVEN years. Not cool, 2020.
This important machine allows us to cool beer for service and keeps beers fermenting at the correct temperatures. Its failure puts all of the beer currently in our tanks at risk. That’s barrels and barrels and barrels of beer. And while we pride ourselves on always looking on the bright side of things, we currently find ourselves squinting to find just a glimmer. We are hoping you can be our bright side.
We are humbly asking for support with this unforeseen, untimely, and incredibly costly breakdown. Unfortunately, we have had to wait several days for parts to get the equipment running again. In the meantime, we have spent countless hours attempting to save product, retrofitting other equipment, rescheduling canning runs, and continuing "in-house" service. Most efforts of which, we are proud to report, have been successful. We are reaching out to ask for support from our friends, family, and loyal patrons to help cover just a small portion of the repair expense. We set the goal to cover about 20% of what the total repair cost will be. Every donation, large or small, will make a world of difference to us right now.
All of you, our amazing community, have already shown us so much love this year, and we are so very grateful. It has certainly been humbling. When this is all over, to express our gratitude, we are going to throw a big ol’ party, exclusively for donors, brimming with delicious beer and lots and lots of laughter. Date TBD obviously. Until then, stay safe, kind, and healthy.
