Our Caribbean Family Needs Us Now
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love, concern, and prayers as Hurricane Melissa — the largest storm ever recorded in the Caribbean Sea — continues to devastate our beloved islands.
At the Caribbean American Family Network (CAFN), we are grounded in faith, culture, family and community. Since 1995 we’ve built a close-knit Caribbean-American network that connects families, uplifts young leaders and carries out outreach across the Chicagoland area and the Caribbean.
We’ve provided disaster relief, bridged digital divides for students in Jamaica, and supported families through our “Drive for the Islands” initiatives.
Many of our members have loved ones in Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic — areas now facing historic devastation from this storm. Haiti and the Dominican Republic were hit hard over the weekend, and Jamaica continues to face intense rainfall, flooding and widespread power outages. Thousands are now left with damaged homes, limited resources and uncertain recovery ahead.
How Your Donations Will Help
Your donation will go directly toward:
- Emergency supplies (food, clean water, batteries, medical kits)
- Shelter and temporary housing support
- Rebuilding efforts for affected families and communities
- Support for children and elderly residents displaced by the storm
- Coordination with trusted local organizations for transparent distribution
We promise to keep you updated on funds received, supplies distributed and recovery progress — every dollar counts and together we can make a real difference.
