Memorial Expenses and Support

On August 1st, my father Dennis Richard Arndt passed away unexpectedly while we were visiting him in Erie. We were visiting so that he could meet his grandson for the first time. This came as such a shock to us. The day before he passed we spent the day at the beach on Lake Erie and got ice cream at the iconic Sara's. As the day was coming to an end I vividly remember asking him to stay a little longer to which he responded, "Okey-doke". I got to spend an extra hour with my dad that day before we snapped a few pictures and he kissed me on the head to say good-bye. That was the last time I saw my dad. Early the next morning my dad passed away from a heart attack.

As I try to make sense of this loss, I was reminded of a quote from Tim Keller that says, "God's sense of timing will always confound ours. His grace rarely operates according to our schedule". With this in mind, I am so thankful that my dad had the opportunity to meet his only grandson, Caleb. As Caleb grows up we will tell him stories about how his goofy Papa made moose mating calls, talked like Bullwinkle, believed in Big Foot, and swore he was the subject of an alien abduction.
He had an eye for spying wild life, could tell you all about the incoming weather fronts, loved golfing, sailing and eating Chinese food. (Well let's be honest he liked to eat just about any and all food.)

Dennis leaves behind his wife Cathy and Breawna, the beautiful girl that they were raising as their own daughter. After my father passed I asked Bre what she liked to do with her Papa. Her eyes lit up as she spoke of playing with Josie (their dog), watching movies, eating mac 'n cheese and going on rides at Conneaut Lake Park. My heart aches for her as she has lost her dad too.

As you can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for our family and unfortunately we are unable to afford to provide him with a proper funeral. Any funds collected will be used to pay for his memorial expenses. Any additional funds will be given to his wife and little girl to support them during this time of grief and financial hardship.

Thank you for your support and prayers during this difficult time.
