My Heart Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Will Armstrong. I'm a baker, brother, dog lover, and all-around pretty nice guy living in Atlanta, Georgia. I am not a guy who likes to ask for help. But I'm in a bind and I need some help.
In June of 2016, I had a life-saving heart pump, or LVAD, implanted to treat end-stage heart failure. This pump was intended to keep my body healthy while I pursued a heart transplant. Unfortunately, the pump started having problems recently, and it now looks like the pump will need to be replaced.
This is a BIG surgery that comes at a very bad time for me financially. I've been dealing with severe heart problems for two years, which has taken a heavy toll on me financially.
Surgery to replace the pump is open heart surgery and will require a long hospital stay (I've already been here a week) and then a long recovery. There's not really a good alternative, though, if I want to survive -- and I do!
It's embarrassing for me to admit that I'm just not financially prepared for another long period of unemployment right now.
So, as much as I hate to ask, I need the help of friends. I need help covering my medical expenses. I need help keeping a roof over my head and a home for me and my dog.
I can promise this: The money will be well spent. It will be used to cover insurance premiums, co-payments, and basic living expenses while I'm in the hospital and while recover from surgery. I’ll do everything I can to be self supporting again as quickly possible, AND I will give back in all the ways that I can for as long as I can.
I am in awe of the kindness and generosity of the people in this world. I personally would not have survived the past two years without it. The kindness of friends and a lot of strangers has made an awful situation a lot more manageable - and for that I'm very grateful. Thank you for your love and support. Love, Will
