Burial for Larry Bowman
I write this with sadness in my heart for a family that I’ve held dear for 30 years.
Larry Bowman, father of my childhood best friend, passed away on March 21, 2021. He was a beloved father, “Papa”, son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Larry was a dedicated respiratory therapist in Lancaster County for most of his working life. He spent many years at Lancaster General Hospital as Chief Respiratory Therapist. Later he transitioned to providing care in home. He was a hard-working man who was also a second “dad” to me, always welcoming me into his home and on family vacations.
Due to unforeseen family circumstances and complicated medical decisions, he was unwillingly taken to a nursing home right before COVID hit. While there, he experienced multiple falls, emergency situations, and horrid neglect that put his life in direct peril and caused undue additional suffering. He was unable to have visitors this past year - until the last week of his life. Adding insult to injury, the courts stripped his children of their ability to oversee his care and seized his finances. The condition of his estate raises more questions than answers and cannot provide funds for a funeral.
Larry’s children/family are devastated by his loss and were not prepared for the high costs of a funeral service due to the unusual financial situation. It is painful knowing that he suffered and spent the last year of his life alone. It was Larry’s final wish to have a traditional funeral and burial, something this incredible man greatly deserves. I am attempting to ease the burden on his family and ask so very earnestly for your support. Any little bit will help, even sharing this Go Fund Me page would help immensely if you are unable to donate.
Larry’s children will provide details of his service once they are finalized.
Thank you so much for your support!
