Bryan and Tammy Smith emergency expenses
Donation protected
My brother Bryan Smith’s family, has been through an extremely difficult time the last two years. Bryan was diagnosed with stomach cancer last summer. Following his diagnosis he underwent the strongest round of chemotherapy followed by surgery (October 2021). The surgery, although successful, was followed by many complications causing him to be in the hospital for 30 days. While Bryan was fighting to recover in the hospital his wife Tammy’s father Tony, Bryan’s best friend, lost his own battle with cancer. It was also discovered at this time that Bryan’s cancer had spread to his lymph nodes by the time the surgery was performed. After he gained some strength back he went through another round of chemotherapy.
Bryan and his family enjoyed a break from the struggles for the summer. Unfortunately, a little over a month ago tragedies started stacking up. Bryan’s regular CT scan showed what the doctors thought was pneumonia in his upper lungs. After 2 rounds of antibiotics he continued to get worse. Then on September 28th Hurricane Ian struck the Fort Myers Beach area, destroying Bryan and Tammy’s dream retirement home. Because it was a manufactured home, hurricane insurance was not available causing them to lose everything. Bryan and Tammy attempted to save whatever they could by driving 26 straight hours to work for a week, only to find out all was a total loss. After returning home Bryan’s health took a turn for the worse and after 2 trips to the ER he was admitted to Christ Hospital October 18th. A CT scan performed that day showed what appears to be cancer has returned and spread to multiple areas in his body. He is currently having many tests to gather information and make a plan of attack.
Bryan and his family are facing some very difficult times in many ways and my hope is financial distress is not one one of those burdens.
At this time they are facing:
$20,000 in medical bills (out of pocket)
$180,000 mortgage on their Florida property that is now condemned
$10,000+ cost to remove their condemned home off of the lot it is sitting on
$200 a month recurring HOA fee on a property that is lost
Please send prayers for healing and strength and if you are so inclined to make a donation to their cause it will be greatly appreciated.
