The snow and winds brought by storm Goretti have caused devastating damage to our animal sanctuary; animal homes have collapsed, including newly built, strong structures that were meant to last for years.

We lost an animal. Writing those words feels unreal, and the heartbreak of that loss is something we are all carrying heavily.

Alongside that, we've had to evacuate and temporarily rehouse others, such as Bailey the chicken whose enclosure collapsed under the weight of snow. Fortunately, he was safely tucked up in his shelter and is unharmed, but his home will need to be completely re-built. Many animals have been moved to temporary accommodation whilst we assess the damage and work out a plan for moving forwards.

Winter is always a hard time for us, but this is a bitter blow to all of the hard work, care and love that has been poured into our sanctuary over the last 20 years - what happens next will be critical to our future.
