My Grad School Commencement in FL
Donation protected
Here's the long-story-short:
In the summer of 2017, I began working toward my Masters of Arts in Professional Behavior Analysis after getting accepted into Florida Institute of Technology's extended studies hybrid masters program. Just as school took off in full swing, my love, Jason, & I were hit with what seems to be a continuous series of unfortunate events, one right after the other. Life got itself a new punching bag and named it Brittany. Fortunately, I'm no wuss, and it will take more than a duffle bag of life's suckerpunches to take me down.
Fast forward to Spring 2018: although life dealt me a shit ton of lemons, I've persevered (though I'll admit there were days when I entertained the idea of just saying "fuck it" and dropping everything), and I'm graduating May 5th with just under a 4.0 GPA. I worked my ASS OFF for this degree, I've never been to Florida (why would I?), and I know if my dad were still alive, he would have wanted to see me walk in the commencement ceremony, so for him, and for myself, I'm going to Melbourne, Florida, to finish writing what has been the most challenging, exhausting chapter of my adult life to date.
The dilemma: My part-time wages (our only source of income throughout the last 4 months) isn't even enough to "get by" here in the SF area, so affording a trip to Florida for a few days is out of the question. But this is where you can help!
Because I'd rather earn money than receive a handout, anyone who makes a donation to my commencement attendance fund has the option to receive one of my unique paintings or glass lamps/candleholders, or, for those whose generosity exceeds $100, the option to receive a cool antique or vintage family heirloom (antique & vintage cameras, fine jewelry, gold, silver, collector items, antique dolls, opera binoculars, real ivory charms, miscellaneous knick knacks, etc.).
Attending my graduation is very important to me. I've worked too hard, have lost too many hours of sleep, and have put too much of my social life through the meat grinder not to walk on May 5th.
Any amount you can give is appreciated beyond words. Funds raised will help pay for roundtrip airfare, 3 nights in a hotel, a rental car, meals, and post-graduation celebrating with my professor & mentor, who has made my grad school experience worth every penny & every hair on my head that's fallen victim to stress . Help me meet my goal and pick out some art or inquire about antiques & vintage items I have. Help me make this happen :) Buy my art!
