Consent/Respect: Teen Relationships
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Irie. I'm turning 14 this year and decided I want to make a difference in my community instead of having a party that is just about me. I wanted to have an event that would give people my age inspiration. When I thought about the people who inspire me (Malala!), I remembered that one of the things she says is that each of us has the power to use our voice. So this is what I'm doing...
I am creating an event for this November that is for people ages 12+ that is led by Mike Domitrz. He speaks on consent and respect in relationships. This conversation is for everyone who is in a releationship, will ever be in a relationship, and who would like to have a relationship. Basically, as Mike says, if you're a human who wants healthy relationships, this is for you!
The costs included in this event are:
Mike's speaking fee, renting an auditorium, and publicity expenses.
A lot of times young people are told how our bodies work and what we shouldn't do. These are important things to know, but a lot of times it's disempowering. We also want to know how to communicate, especially in a way that upholds our self-respect and respects others. The "Can I Kiss You?" program does this in ways that are educational as well as fun.
On behalf of all the teens, parents, and educators who this program will benefit : I really appreciate your support!
(*The name 'Sarah Page' in the contact section is my Mum's name, just so you know. I am a real person!*)
