THOSE THAT HAVE EARS TO HEAR
LET THEM HEAR
A FESTIVAL COMES!
Help us produce six, new, explosive plays under the twisted umbrella of Bring a Weasel and A Pint of Your Own Blood. (*trumpet sounds*)
The Brooklyn College MFA Playwriting program's Class of 2024 are excited to announce that the BAM will host the 16th annual Bring a Weasel and a Pint of Your Own Blood festival this year. Shows will take place September 13-15th, featuring brand new plays by our graduating cohort:
Tracy Carns
Nurit Chinn
Lori Felipe-Barkin
Leslie Gauthier
Utkarsh Rajawat
Madison Wetzell
ABOUT WEASEL FESTIVAL:
Weasel Fest was founded in 2006 as a showcase for the groundbreaking work of new graduates of the Brooklyn College MFA playwriting program by Mac Wellman, Erin Courtney, Kate E. Ryan, and Karinne Keithley Syers. It has long been a scrappy, self-produced affair, with short plays based on a shared prompt.
This year’s plays will be inspired by The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by William Blake, a prompt given to us by program co-director Sibyl Kempson. (*strum of a harp*)
WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING:
Weasel Fest is entirely self-produced. We don’t receive production funding from the college. To make Weasel Fest happen each year, the playwrights depend on you(!), the people(!), to support emerging artists and experimental theater. (*screams from hell, experimentally*)
Your donations will go directly towards compensating our talented creative team: the actors, directors, designers, and production staff who do the magic to turn mere writing into theater. These wonderful people represent the vast majority of our budget, because they are worth it.
While any amount helps, if we can get 200 donations of $40 or more in the next three weeks, we will be more than halfway to our goal. This will cover stipends for all the artists we have on board so far.
Thank you so much for your generosity and we hope to see you at the show in September! Please remember to, indeed, bring a weasel, and a pint of blood (your own) to WeaselFest ‘24!
(*the clank of heavens’ gates* *screams from hell, but more ecstatic this time* *your flesh is afire but it burns so good* *all of hell is empty and its devils are coming to Weasel Fest*)
