Brenda Medina-Hernandez College Fellowship

Brenda "Beazie" Medina-Hernandez was a fearless advocate for workers' rights, the LGBTQ community, and undocumented people. She overcame many challenges in life and became a promising scholar and leader.
In July 2017 Brenda died in tragic circumstances. We vowed to continue fighting for the causes Brenda fought for her entire life.
In her memory, Brenda's friends are setting up a scholarship award for supporting recent high school graduates who have registered for an institution of higher learning.
The awards, in the sum of $500, will go to students from a senior high school in California. Many of the students in the high school have great potential but limited financial resources. We made it our mission to help as many of them as we can to live up to their potential.
The money you give will go directly to the students to help them make their first steps in college: textbooks, a deposit for a room, or purchasing food until their financial aid money is approved.
We promise that the entire sum of what we will raise will go to the students.
