A.S.E. Dorothea Rescue Centre for Girls, in Tala Town, Machakos County, Kenya, is a haven of hope and transformation for girls aged 3 to 12 rescued from the streets of Nairobi. Founded in 2021 by Sister Caroline Ngatia, A.S.E., the Centre has provided 163 girls with safe shelter, education, healthcare, counseling, life skills training, and reintegration support. The Centre’s mission is to rescue, restore, and empower vulnerable girls through holistic care and sustainable community-based programs that offer dignity, hope, and a future. Consistent with this mission, we are launching a new Bakery within the Rescue Centre to help sustain our core services, while meeting a local demand for quality baked bread. Alongside supporting the Centre’s operations, part of the Bakery’s revenue will fund a new Entrepreneurial Empowerment Program. This initiative will provide microgrants to the families of rescued girls, helping them build small businesses and assisting with the girls’ ultimate reintegration into their families. given the social mission of the Dorothea Bakery, it is our intent to support area feeding programs, where we will reach out to vulnerable communities in informal settlements like Kibera, Mathare, Dandora, and others. Once the Centre has achieved the resources, we anticipate operating a corporate social responsibility program for three weeks every quarter, supplying freshly baked goods to thousands of needy families and children. The Bakery, by virtue of its location at the Rescue Centre, will serve as a living example of possibility, purpose, and self-reliance, and as a replicable model of dignity-driven development where business sustains healing and long-term impact. We seek KES 3.25M (approximately USD 25,000) in funding from partners who will help us launch this important and transformative initiative.
