Bowdon Rec Batting Cage
Donation protected
Friends of the Bowdon Recreation Department are seeking funds to replace the current batting cage. The current batting cage is over 10 years old. The batting cage poles that support the netting are bent and coming apart. The flooring for the cage is worn, torn in places, and coming lose from the concrete. The netting has holes, home plate is missing, and there isn’t an L-screen for the pitcher’s protection. The only reusable piece is the concrete flooring. The current batting cage is not conducive to conditioning Bowdon area children for their best performance on the ball field.
The batting cage replacement will benefit the Bowdon baseball & softball community and it will give players of any age a place to go practice their hitting during both the season and the off-season. With the ability to have batting practice in a safe environment all children will have the ability to improve their skills and will allow our Bowdon teams to remain competitive.
All work to construct the new batting cage will be done by volunteers so that funds raised will be used for the actual cost of materials. Estimated costs to replace the current batting cages including netting, L-screen, net saver, netting tension kit, 6x6 posts a door and roof will be $5,000.
The batting cage replacement is just one of many upgrades or replacements that are needed by the Bowdon Recreation Department’s baseball & softball programs. Once the batting cages are replaced, we will begin working on the other needs of the program. We don’t want the Bowdon area children to have to go to other communities to gain access to quality baseball & softball programs. By incrementally improving our baseball & softball fields we can ensure our children have access to a quality program.
