Hi my name is John Dionne, a friend of Rob's. If you know this man or anyone in his family, you know of their kindness and giving hearts. They will rarely ask for anything. Well! It's time to help them!
As most of you know, Rob has been through major medical events: The doctors believe he had a tumor for about 10 years before it was found a year and a half ago. Due to having Parkinson’s disease and growing pain and weakness in his right leg, he visited the neurologist thinking this may be a symptom of his Parkinson’s disease. The doctor thought it was something else and ordered an MRI for his lower back. Not fifteen minutes after getting home, his primary care doctor was calling to tell him the MRI showed a larger than a softball size growth attached to his psoas muscle and his right side kidney. The tumor was found to be cancerous and the particular gene mutation on the tumor showed that he was the only known person in the United States to have this particular combination and only three people with this particular sarcoma. He then started multiple chemo treatments to try and shrink the tumor. Being a person with this rare tumor, the oncologist threw the strongest chem cocktails at him. It was really an exhausting experience. and in the end did not shrink the tumor very much at all. At that point, he let his oncologist team know he would not continue with chemo and would like them to remove the tumor. They agreed. He then needed to wait three months to have the surgery. During this time he remained very positive and just put his self in God’s hands. He reports that he had tremendous support from family and friends . Then came time for the surgery. During the 9 hour surgery the doctors removed the tumor in his right kidney, 3/4 of his psoas muscle, an adrenal gland, as well as cutting out the middle of two of his ribs (to be able to remove his kidney). They had to sever three nerves which affected his right leg causing weakness and numbness. After six months three tumors metastasized to his left lung and two to his right lung. Those had to be removed. On the left lung they had to remove half of the top lobe and a third of the bottom lobe. On the right lung they had to remove a section of the lower lobe. Three months later he went through twenty eight days of radiation. Six months after that another tumor showed up in his right lung. He went through four sessions of intense radiation which killed that tumor which was tremendous news. After that it was found that he had severe nerve damage in his legs and lower back due to the effects of the original chemotherapy. He is still considered stage 4 Extraosseous Ewing’s sarcoma nfatc2 gene mutation. It is very aggressive and will show up again in a soft tissue like a lung or muscle.
During all of this, he was not able to work and though having good insurance and disability benefits, he has accrued some medical bills that are putting a strain on his family.
He and his family needs some help! Let's bless this family that is so use to helping others!
