Black Student Led Sit-In at Syracuse U

Donation protected
A hate crime occurred in Day Hall on the campus of Syracuse University. On November 6th, 2019, bathrooms on the 4th and 6th floor of Day Hall were vandalized and inscribed on the mirrors were racial slurs including but not limited to the n-word. This most recent incident in Day Hall served as a catalyst for actions currently being taken by students, as this incident is just one of many that have occurred on campus in recent years.

Currently, we are partaking in a sit-in on the SU campus and are requesting donations to the #NotAgainSU movement. We are requesting donations to provide us with resources as we intend on staying in the sit-in until the demands are met. We are also currently working collaboratively with all members of the community that are present to generate a list of short term and long term demands to be presented to the SU administration. These demands are reflective of both the Black experience at SU and the experiences of faculty and staff. All donations are very much appreciated as they all play a part in contributing to the institutional change we want to see from our university.

The use of racist and problematic language are symptoms of systemic racism that plague our institution and universities across the country. For this reason, we are demanding direct action by the administration to live up to the promise Syracuse University gives to make the campus an inclusive living environment for all students. We are a unified body of Black students writing on behalf of students of color at Syracuse University.
