Embracing Bekke Geier

In January of 2019, Bekke Geier was planning a family trip to the Grand Canyon in celebration of her 40th birthday. Two months later this wife, mother of 2 young children and friend is fighting Stage 3 breast cancer. She has just begun 8 weeks of intensive chemotherapy, which will be followed by 10 months of weekly chemo.
In addition to handing the rigors of her cancer treatment plan, Bekke is facing financial burdens. Due to a recent job change she has no vacation or disability coverage. She is no longer be able to afford her own health insurance. Although her husband, Andy, works full time and has a family health insurance plan, the coverage may not be 100%. Being in sales Andy's income varies, so although it covers all the usual living expenses there is very little money left for the unexpected. The family is facing a very challenging time.
Even while knowing that her cancer is aggressive, Bekke's greatest concern is not about her illness, but her ability to take care of her children and support her husband. Months of chemotherapy will at the very least cause extreme fatigue and a weak immune system. Bekke's physician has warned her that as chemo continues, her children will need an alternative place to stay on treatment days; Bekke's immune system will be too compromised to have them at home. Without her income, child care is unaffordable and Andy has already used much of his vacation and Family Medical Leave benefit leaving him unable to take time off for the children. Bekke worries that finding safe nuturing child care, although necessary, may be unattainable.
Always optimistic, Bekke is positive that she can beat her cancer and I am certain that with your help, her worries about caring for her family can be alleviated.
