San Sebastián Mártir Animal Sanctuary

This year 2025 has struck us in a profoundly painful way.

We are facing an eviction order within 60 days, with the deadline set for February 24, 2026, and at the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult each day to secure donations to cover basic operations and food for the animals in our care.

Since the passing of the Sanctuary’s founder, the struggle to keep this project alive has been constant. With great effort, we managed to purchase a piece of land, but building without financial capital has been an almost impossible challenge.

Every day we face inhumane decisions:

choosing between buying construction materials or buying food for the animals.

San Sebastián Mártir Animal Sanctuary was registered in August 2013, founded by Federico Ferrante and Rosa Torres Traverzo. Since then, different presidents and leaders have given their very best to keep these facilities operating and to continue the legacy of rescue.

After Mrs. Torres’ passing, her godson informed us that there was no interest in continuing her legacy on the land where the sanctuary was created, even though the rescue areas had been developed there with love and sacrifice.

Since 2018, as President of the Sanctuary, I—Damaris Pérez—have been devastated by the reality of having to remove an entire sanctuary built with so much love since 2013, without resources, without time, and without a clear solution.

I can not see how it is possible to build within 60 days without financial help.

We have knocked on countless doors seeking materials for the new sanctuary, and unfortunately, very few have been able to help.

Costs are extremely high, and donations are becoming fewer each day.

This situation has deeply affected my health.

There are days when I feel my heart may not withstand this pressure.

I sleep very little, constantly thinking about solutions, ideas, and how to move forward without harming the dogs who depend on us.

Today, I write from a place of total desperation.

I have cried like never before.

I am exhausted and in need of your help.

Please help us.

I can not carry this responsibility alone.

Este año nos ha golpeado de una manera profundamente dolorosa.

Tenemos una orden de desalojo en 60 días que se cumple el termino el 24 de febrero de 2026 y, al mismo tiempo, cada día se nos hace más difícil conseguir donaciones para cubrir las operaciones básicas y la alimentación de los animales bajo nuestro cuidado.

Desde el fallecimiento de la fundadora del Santuario, la lucha ha sido constante para poder mantener este proyecto vivo. Con mucho esfuerzo logramos comprar un solar, pero construir sin capital económico ha sido un reto casi imposible.

Cada día enfrentamos decisiones inhumanas:

comprar materiales de construcción o comprar comida para los animales.

El Santuario San Sebastián Mártir fue inscrito en agosto de 2013, fundado por Federico Ferrante y Rosa Torres Traverzo. Desde entonces, distintos presidentes y líderes han dado lo mejor de sí para mantener estas facilidades operando y continuar el legado de rescate.

Tras el fallecimiento de la señora Torres, su ahijado nos notificó que no interesaba que el legado de su madrina continuara en los predios donde fue creado el santuario, aun cuando allí se habían habilitado con amor y sacrificio las áreas de rescate.

Desde 2018, como presidenta del Santuario, para mí —Damaris Pérez— ha sido devastador enfrentar la realidad de tener que remover todo un santuario construido con tanto amor desde el 2013, sin recursos, sin tiempo y sin una solución clara.

No encuentro cómo construir en 60 días sin solvencia económica.

Hemos tocado muchísimas puertas buscando materiales para el nuevo santuario y, lamentablemente, muy pocos han podido ayudar.

Los costos están extremadamente elevados y las donaciones cada día son menos.

Esta situación ha afectado profundamente mi salud.

Hay días que siento que mi corazón no va a aguantar esta presión.

Duermo poco, pienso sin parar en soluciones, en ideas, en cómo seguir sin afectar a los perros que dependen de nosotros.

Hoy escribo desde la desesperación total.

He llorado como nunca.

Estoy cansada y necesito de su ayuda.

Por favor, ayúdennos.

No puedo cargar sola con esta responsabilidad.

Ellos no tienen voz… pero nosotros sí.
