Please help me recover from cancer surgery
Donation protected
Hey there, everybody. I'm Ash. I am a one-time cancer survivor already (pancreatic) but now, four years later, I am once again facing challenging odds. Neuroendocrine tumors are growing in my liver, ten of them, which need to be removed. I have to have major surgery to remove them, hopefully surviving cancer one more time, but it will be putting me out of work for about three months, and the recovery process is long and painful. I am also unsure what my job situation will be like post-recovery, as my position at my new job is only covered if I've been there for 6+ months, which I will not by the time my surgery occurs.
I went through roughly the same surgery in 2017 when I had pancreatic NETs, and it was unbearable to deal with for a while. Thankfully, back then, I was local to my family in Massachusetts, and was able to stay with them for the duration of my recovery, be brought to appointments, etc. Now, in 2022, I am about as far away from home as possible, on the opposite coast. I have no idea how I will cover my rent or other expenses when the time comes. I'm currently working, but will not be for that three months time, and with my current take-home amount I am not really able to save much, if anything, to put towards future expenses.
I am asking for help to cover expenses such as rent, utilities, food, cell phone, transportation to post-operative appointments, palliative care products, treatment possibly not covered by insurance, etc. Anything helps, as I am destined to become quite financially and possibly housing insecure through this experience if I can't come up with a solution, and I could really use the security of knowing that I will be able to retain my residence in order to have a home to recover in and the means to be able to recover properly with as little outside issue as possible.
I suffer from mental illness as well, making this situation that much worse. I am in treatment, attending regular therapy and trying to go through the motions of finding a medication that works for me, but I fear that during this time I will immensely struggle to cope with the issues at hand if facing these other burdens while recovering from surgery and still trying to get to the bottom of my mental health issues.
Anyways, thank you for taking the time to read this. Please donate/share if you have the ability, and have a wonderful day!
*edit* Today my van broke down entirely and I will be having to find an alternative source of transportation. I raised the goal amount in order to help fund repairs or the procurement of a new(er) vehicle so I can keep getting to work and doctor appointments.
