Ariela's Fight with Leukemia
Donation protected
4-year-old Ariela (my niece) was diagnosed in early March with a very aggressive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (blood cancer). She has been treated with chemotherapy since but the disease has not yet entered into full remission. Her doctors are recommending that she have a bone marrow transplant, without which she will likely not survive.
The good news is that Ariela's sister Aliza is a perfect match with Ariela and can therefore be Ariela's bone marrow donor. Even more good news is that there is a high survival rate from Leukemia by those who have received bone marrow transplants. While the surgery itself in the U.S. can go up to US$1 million, it could be covered in Argentina with significantly less. Unless a good opportunity to have the surgery in the United States arises, the parents would likely have her intervened in Argentina, where there is good medical care and experience in this type of surgery, and where they can also have the support of their family. The family anticipates the costs of the surgery and expenses would be approximately US$50,000. Anything you can give to help Ariela is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
