Anti-Racism Fund

Donation protected
The atrocious murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery have sparked much conversation and many protests against police brutality and the systemic oppression that Black people in this country have faced for centuries. Although this is an unfortunate wake-up call, we at Tri Delta UPenn have heard it, and we are ready to act and stand in solidarity with our Black sisters and the entire Black community. We are committed to educating our chapter about racism in all of its forms. We understand that while educating ourselves is vital, we must also raise funds and put money towards organizations invested in actionable change, which is why we have decided to partner with the Anti-Racism Fund.

Sesana Allen, a UPenn Tri Delta alum, is one of the founders of the Anti-Racism Fund. The purpose of the Anti-Racism Fund is to foster support and raise awareness by heavily contributing funds to organizations that are committed to actionable change. Listed below are the four organizations that the Anti-Racism Fund donates to and their missions:

The LDF—The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund
WHAT THEY DO: The LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice to fulfill the promise of equality for all. They also work to defend the gains made over the civil rights struggle and work to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.

The Loveland Foundation

WHAT THEY DO: Loveland Foundation is committed to showing up for communities of color in unique and powerful ways. Their resources and initiatives are collaborative as they prioritize opportunity, access, validation, and healing.

Reclaim the Block

WHAT THEY DO: Reclaim the Block organizes around policies that strengthen community-led safety initiatives and reduce reliance on police departments.

The Bail Project

WHAT THEY DO: Low-income individuals accused of crime face a hard choice: stay in jail and fight the crime or plead guilty and go home. The result is a system where innocent people must plead guilty because they can’t pay bail. To combat these injustices, the Bail Project pays bail for people in need to reunite families and restore the presumption of innocence.

If the mission of just one of these organizations resonates with you, please show your support by making a donation today. It is no longer acceptable to stay silent. We must be actively anti-racist and break the destructive systems that were created to keep Black people behind and fearful.

Enough is enough. We refuse to stay silent any longer, and we hope you will stand with us.
