Ana Maria Elizabeth Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease
Donation protected
My name is Roberto Thomas and my niece Ana Maria Elizabeth Espada from Igbaras, Iloilo, Philippines has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease stage 5 to consider Glomerulonephritis. This condition was unknown to me before today, meaning the inflammation of tiny filters in the kidneys called glomeruli. This glomeruli removes excess fluid, electrolytes and waste from the bloodstream and passes through urine. Ana recently turned 24 on the 12th October and the following day started bleeding from the nose and vomiting blood. Luckily she was with her older sister Maria Christina and was taken to hospital. Ana does not have parents and has been living with her grandmother for most of her life. Doctors have advised dialysis treatment 2 to 3 times a week with medications. Immediate funding is needed for dialysis procedures with ongoing hospitalisation with the need of a duty nurse for close monitoring and care. Each dialysis procedure will cost 6,000 to 7,000 Filipino pesos (A$170-$200) plus nursing costs of 1,600 pesos (A$46) every 12 hrs. Ana also requires care by 4 specialised doctors, a cardiologist, nephrologist, gastrologist and hematologist. Urgent medication and procedures are needed for her kidney disease which can also affect other organs and if not given immediate treatment can lead to further complications. Thank you for donating and sharing Ana's campaign.
