And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Everyone faces hardships.....some are small, some are big and some are life changing. My life changed on September 24, 2017. I am learning that the road ahead is long and that the things I used to complain about are small in comparison, but my faith in God has kept me afloat.
I have always struggled with health issues; I had cancer as a child and my left kidney was removed at 18mo. old. I was diagnosed at age 12 with Type 1 Diabetes and throughout the years I have been diagnosed with other conditions to include Fibromyalsia and recently, Lupus. I have lived and thrived despite these illnesses and I have been blessed to be able to manage these conditions with the help of family, friends, my church and healthcare professionals.
About a year ago my health started to decline considerably, simple day -to-day actvities became difficult to perform. I seeked help, but doctors could not explain the pain I was experiencing. Emergency room visits became the norm for me and only provided temporary relief, soon I was being continuously admitted into the hospital. From October of 2016 to October 2017, I had been admitted to the hospital 11 times and 8 of those visits resulted in surgeries due to Sepsis infections that almost took my life. I suffered organ failure, blood clots and uncontrolled blood glucose levels due to the raging blood infection in my body.
On September 24, 2017, I faced my biggest fear when I was told the my left leg would have to be amputated in an effort to stop the infection that was now in my bone. If they didn't amputate, I would lose my life. I agreed to the surgery, but I was devastated. The following day I was told that my kidney was in distress and was failing due to the sepsis and that I needed dialysis immediately. Life changed for me in an instant.
I am a Radiation Therapist and I stand on my feet all day in order to treat the cancer patients I serve. I am now unable to work due to my amputation. I am wheelchair bound at the moment, unable to stand or walk, unable to drive....unable to live life the way I once did.
I am asking for the help and support of others in this time of need. I am without an income at this time and unable to provide the simplest of things. During this past year I was able to sustain myself using my savings account and retirement funds, but those accounts are depleted. I am without medical insurance due to being unemployed and I need medication, healthcare providers and a prosthetic all of which will help me become a productive person again. Anything that you give or donate will go to living and medical expences. I now rely on the kindness of others and your support is greatly appreciated. I have applied for assistance, but federal agency help takes time.
God is good and I am a woman of strong faith, please do what is placed on your heart. I am so appreciative and thankful in advance of what God will do through this fund. I thank you for your willingness to help. This is NOT my forever circumstance, this is temporary. I believe this to be true. Please pray for my healing and recovery spiritually, emotionlly and mentally. Thank you!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
