Rohan is an enthusiastic, active and kind Indian aspiring writer who has been trying to make his living helping fans explore their love of gaming. He was hit by a car, has permanently lost his leg and temporarily lost use of his dominant arm. He needs financial help overcoming this challenge so that he can focus on rebuilding his life.
What Happened
He had been planning on taking a Himalyan trek today, July 10, and had visited the hospital, where he'd been given a clean bill of health (including passing a COVID-19 test) to ensure he could safely take his trip. While biking back, a vehicle swerved into his lane and crashed into him head on.
The car that hit him was, apparently, attempting to pass another vehicle and didn't see Rohan in the road.
Now he's been hospitalized in Bhubaneswar for weeks. The car that hit him destroyed his right arm and crushed his right leg. Although doctors say that with time, hard work and physical therapy, his right arm will eventually function again, they were unable to save his leg and had to amputate it.
He'll be in the hospital taking treatments and surgeries for over a month, after which he'll be discharged to recover at home. It'll be 2-3 months until he is able to be fit for a prosthetic. His life will never be the same.
Why Rohan needs help
Rohan is a young man at the beginning of his work life; he doesn't have the money saved up to be able to cover this kind of catastrophe. Rohan will use 100% of your donations toward paying for:
- Initial medical treatments he received
- Hospital bills, medicines (painkillers, anti-virals, etc)
- Ongoing therapy he'll need to learn live without his leg
- Prosthetic fitting and materials, as well as non-prosthetic mobility equipment he might need
- Non-medical support he may need in living assistance while he adjusts
- Offsetting his bills, living costs and obligations for the period he's unable to work due to his inability to move or type
- Any physiological or psychological treatment he needs to combat phantom limb pain and trauma this accident caused him
- Ensuring he is able to safely travel 1,750 km from the hospital in Bhubaneswar to his home in Mumbai after he is fit with prosthetics
- Outfitting his residence as needed to be accessible for somebody with his mobility
Who Is Organizing this GoFund Me?
My name is Ryan Jurado, I'm a colleague of Rohan's from the United States. Because Rohan is in India, he is not able to create a GoFundMe page due to this platforms eligibility restrictions. He also is incapable of typing out a page like this in his current condition. I've made this page after consulting with Rohan extensively about his needs and clearing the content in it with him. 100% of what reaches me will go to Rohan. You can confirm this GoFund Me's legitimacy by checking Rohan's Twitter @rohan_esports.
